American Idol Stuffy Stuff!!!

Hi Everyone,

So I’ve been writing about AI for TV Grapevine since the start of the season, following wannabe singers’ Bambi-like efforts towards becoming a huge pop superstar. Though I love doing recaps, it was WAY too hard considering that I was out performing most nights and unable to watch the show until the next morning. With TV and the Internet and all this “new media” mumbo jumbo, you gotta be on it!

Anyway, I’m happy to say that I am now going to be doing straight editorial on the previous week’s action + doing a look ahead/prediction/forecast! I’m really excited because I get to just write about what I want now, and give you opinionopinionopinion!

Here was my last recap of last week’s Michael Jackson-themed performances: Top 13 Recap

Here is an excerpt and link to my first editorial/look ahead piece about the upcoming Grand Ole Opry week: Jen’s Idol Dish

Last week’s Michael Jackson theme on American Idol could have been a total disaster, but these are the strongest Top 12/13 Finalists Anerican Idol has ever had, and they put on a really solid show. Let’s relive some of the highlights from last week!

Top 3 Performances:
3. Danny Gokey
2. Matt Giraud
1. Alexis Grace

Top 3 Inadvertent Show Stealers:
3. The Matrix screensaver used during Anoop’s performance.
2. Danny’s “Groomsman-Gone-Wild” dance moves.
1. Megan’s MILF mom – HOLY HOTNESS!!!

Top 3 FUBARs:
3. Anoop’s unfortunate collar-up situation.
2. Lambert giggling throughout his song – a song with racial themes!!! Dude, I know being serious is not your thing, but if there were anytime to take it down a notch, this would definitely be it.
1. Kelly Clarkson’s hot mess-ness! Dry hair, a Bar Mitzvah mom outfit and not getting into her performance until about 45 seconds in?! Looks like somebody could use a little “Focus” Vitamin Water!

Thanks to everyone for reading the recaps! The editorials will now be coming out on Sundays, and are part of TV Grapevine’s newsletter, which links you up to reviews and recaps on a shit ton of reality shows, etc.

Is Anyone Else FUCKING LOVING Delocated on Adult Swim?

FINALLY, Eugene Mirman plays a role that’s worthy of his unique style: a Russian hitman trying to make it as a stand-up comedian in New York’s “top clubs”. Aughhh I love it!

Multi-hyphenate DiSASter….

Right, so this past week has been ompletely bonkers:

I’ve been working two part-time jobs (plus cat sitting!), trying to make cash money to survive .

Juliet and I have also been trying to keep up with the octo-mom parody being on CN-fucking-N (and how to follow it up).

Plus performing!

And starting a new sketch group.

And being in my comedy duo.

And working overnight exteriors on a background job – which I questioned doing ever again this year, but they waaaaved a SAG waaaaiver all up in my face.

Plus recording a new song parody.

Annnndnd, uh…doing three back-to-back night shoots for a short film (I’m talkin’ 5pm-5am).

All this made me realize how completely ADD I am, and that I prooooobably need to prioritize (but of course, I’m free practically all of next week, so it could just be bad timing).

Nadya Suleman Continues to Defend the Crazy!

Hey guys! We got word that we were at 75,000+ hits on The Huffington Post!!! We’ve gotten some really great comments and some totally ridic ones as well (why would you think Ann Curry is Caucasian?! She’s CLEARLY “Oriental”), and Juliet and I have been having so much fun that we made another one.

Octo-Mom Parody Featured on CNN Situation Room!!!

Juliet Jeske and I shot the Nadya Suleman-Ann Curry Today Show interview earlier this week. It was basically up for less than a day before it was featured on CNN’s Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer!

Octuplet Mom Today Interview Part II

Juliet Jeske and Jen Kwok do part two of the Ann Curry and Nadya Suleman interview on the Today Show. This is a PARODY of the octuplet mom interview. Directed by Joel Jeske.

Octuplet Mom Parody

Nadja Suleman, octuplet mom, is interviewed by Ann Curry of The Today Show.

I just realized today is my one year anniversary of being a "comedian"!!!

That’s right! Last year on Feb 8, 2008, I shut down my computer and walked through the halls of Jazz at Lincoln Center for the very last time. Thank you to everyone who has been with me on the journey thus far (everyone tagged here)! You played a role in my transition from quirky office girl to broke comedian, and I thank you for it!

This year has been insane, but i made it through ONE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For all the bombing, failed auditions and wanting to quite EVERYDAY…

…here we go: Year TWO!!!

SAVE THE DATE!!! It’s the one year anniversary of Tijuana Yacht Club and we want to celebrate with you!!! Eric and I have tons of new material and will be doing a DVD taping as well, so we need a great audience – YOU! Stain Bar is our favorite venue in Brooklyn, with tons of funky couches and stuff, so it’s a chance for us to put on a full length show in a chilled out, intimate environment for our friends and fans. The taping will only be about 45 min-1 hour, but the party rages all night long, before and waaay after!

Thanks, you guys! For a full listing of all my live shows, please check out the Shows section of my blog, as well as my MySpace. Both are updated with obsessive frequency.
