American Idol Season 8: Unreasonably Happy Auditioners in Salt Lake City

12:49 am, 30th Jan 2009

This is a triple episode week for American Idol!  Tuesday night we were in Jacksonville, FL.  Last night we were in Salt Lake City, UT and tonight is New York, NY + Puerto Ricooooooooo!!!  Check out the full recap here.

Salt Lake City Has the Friendliest Auditioners on Earth!

This episode starts off with a really dramatic montage of the empty audition room and people waiting over night in Salt Lake City – then the sun rises to show the happiest auditioners ever!!!  Apparently, Utah is the “Friendliest place on earth”.  Randy is the first to arrive – with fuzzy leopard print boots?!  I can’t understand it, though I am glad to see his glittery Superman t-shirt is back.

Kara is wearing another satin halter – navy blue this time, and looks like a “Gossip Girl” cast member in the 20-years.  Paula is wearing a cool white satin turtle neck with pink and black stars on it:  part punk, part librarian.  I’m diggin’ it!

American Idol OsmondSinging Prince
David Osmond is an OSMOND – musical royalty!!!!!!!!!!!  He’s also really hot – one of the hottest guys who have been on the show thus far (despite some too-spiky hair).  Both David and his dad, Alan, have been fighting through multiple sclerosis (MS), and David was in a wheelchair not too long ago.  His dad is crying while he talks about his son and his wife looks like a Barbie doll – they will be the ultimate family audience members if he at least makes Top 20!   David can definitely sing, but he doesn’t have the wow factor.  The judges look unimpressed and give him a lot of criticism about figuring out who he is as a solo artist, but you can tell that they are being hard on him because he’s a real singer who can take the advice constructively, and…HE’S GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!!!

Read the entire recap, audition-by-audition here on TV Grapevine.  Tune in tonight for the last installment of our nation’s biggest cattle call!
